Since I frequently mention Zulily on this blog, I decided that it was about time to devote a whole blog post to my favorite place for finding stylish and inexpensive maternity clothes. For those of you who haven’t heard much about Zulily, I think of it kind of like an online version of Home Goods and T.J. Maxx. Zulily offers designer women’s and children’ styles as well as accessories, toys, kitchen gadgets, and home décor at up to 90% off retail value.
I shop on Zulily weekly! I started shopping with them when I became pregnant with my son. I was looking for plain t-shirts for my growing baby bump. I found plenty of pregnancy t-shirts at my local retailers but the problem was that they were crazy expensive- nothing under $25. In my frugal opinion, $25 for a plain t-shirt that you are only going to wear for a few months is crazy. I started looking on Zulily because I heard they offer a variety of quality inexpensive maternity clothes. Turns out the rumors were true and so began my obsession with Zulily. These days I use Zulily to purchase clothes for my son and me, gifts, as well as home décor for my nest. I even purchased my husband’s Christmas gifts on Zulily this year. Dolce & Gabbana cologne and a bracelet for a fraction of the cost? Why thank you!
Who doesn’t love a great bargain? Not only does Zulily offer quality products are great prices, they also offer other perks. For example, if you introduce a friend to Zulily, you will receive $15 in store credit once your friend makes her first purchase in any amount. Zulily will send you daily e-mails letting you know what events are going on. You can select which events you are interested in and you will only be notified about them. I really love this feature. I was only interested in inexpensive maternity clothes when I was pregnant so those are the only e-mails I received. Now I am interested in infant clothes and accessories as well as clothes for nursing so these are the events I am notified about. When ordering on Zulily, you will usually pay a small, flat rate shipping fee. The cool thing is that you only need to pay this fee once for multiple orders. How this works is if I order something today, I can order anything else for the remainder of the day and shipping fees are waived. Sometimes if you order on a Friday, you will get free shipping on other orders for the rest of the weekend.
It’s not all rainbows and butterflies. Zulily is able to offer discount prices due to the way they negotiate with designers. Every day, Zulily launches featured events. Your order isn’t technically placed with the designer until the event is over. Once that happens, designers bulk ship all of the ordered inventory to Zulily which then sends your order to you. This means that it takes weeks to get your order. There is no expedited shipping. This negotiation method also means that returns are not accepted. I always make sure to check the sizing charts before ordering clothing.
Despite a few minor drawbacks, I find Zulily to be an awesome place to shop for inexpensive maternity clothes. And once you are done wearing your clothes, you can always sell them to a local maternity consignment shop and get some of that money back in your pocket.
Happy Shopping Ladies!
