Nursing tops are expensive, sometimes even more expensive than maternity clothes. On top of that, there are not a whole ton of style options out there. Once again we find ourselves paying a premium for subpar selection and product. Don’t even get me started on how hard it is to find nursing bras that are anything but frumpy! (Sexy nursing bras do exist and I wrote all about it here: Where to Find Sexy Nursing Bras and Sexy Maternity Bras) Luckily there are many brilliant and crafty women out on the internet that have created lovely DIY nursing tops and are willing to share tutorials with the rest of us.

If you are sewing challenged just like me, many of the DIY nursing shirts tutorials are too complicated.  Luckily there are some no sew or minimal sewing solutions. I documented them here: For the Sewing Challenged: Round Up of the Best Tutorials for DIY Nursing Tanks on the Web

Here are my favorite DYI Nursing Shirts tutorials for those of you who are not intimidated by sewing:

The Overlapping Seam under the Bust Nursing Shirt

This shirt is great for nursing in public on a warm day. Normally you would want to wear a nursing tank underneath a shirt to keep your stomach off public display. This shirt provides access in a way that bypasses the need to wear multiple layers.
